About Sutton Park
Just six miles north of Birmingham city centre lies Sutton Park — a 2,400-acre National Nature Reserve and one of the largest urban parks in Europe. With a landscape shaped over centuries and brimming with biodiversity, it’s an incredible space for outdoor fun, peaceful walks, and connecting with nature.
The park has earned its status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and a beloved local landmark. Whether you’re a weekend walker, a curious nature-lover or visiting with energetic little ones, Sutton Park offers something for everyone.

- Fishing – In four lakes (permit required; no fishing 15 March–15 June)
- Sailing & canoeing – At Powell’s Pool and Blackroot Pool (club-led)
- Orienteering – Permanent courses available (except 1 April–1 Sept)
- Model aircraft flying – For members of the Sutton Park Model Aero Club
- Golf – Play at nearby Boldmere Golf Course

Opening times: The park opens by 9am daily
Closing varies from 5pm (winter) to 10pm (summer)
Toilets: At Visitor Centre, Banners Gate, and Wyndley Leisure Centre
Visitor Centre (Town Gate): Toilets, maps, baby changing, displays and gift shop
Parking: Paid parking from Easter to September (and weekends/bank holidays)
Free parking at other times
Entrances: Town Gate, Boldmere, Banners Gate, Four Oaks Gate & more
Public transport: Accessible by bus and a short walk from Sutton Coldfield Station
